Líneas Aéreas Suramericanas strengthens its leadership team
Líneas Aéreas Suramericanas (LAS Cargo), Colombia’s cargo airline, is undergoing an internal transformation process, which began a year ago, and which aims to position itself as a relevant operator in the region and expansion in the Americas. To achieve that goal, the airline’s board of directors has just made a strategic move, strengthening its leadership team with the addition of industry heavyweights. In this sense, he has just made two renowned additions and internal promotion as the new General Manager and CEO of his until recently land operations manager, Maurice Thorin Brauer.
Maurice Thorin Brauer, who assumed his new position as of August 17, is an industry veteran with a professional experience of 25 years, having held relevant positions in large companies. His career began in the Lufthansa company, as an aircraft dispatcher and ramp supervisor. In his evolution process, he came to occupy the position of Regional Director in Latin America for Tampa Cargo and Martinair.
It should be remembered that these companies were undergoing a process of operational and commercial integration to generate synergies that position them as leaders in the export market from Colombia to the US and Europe, given that the Dutch had a majority stake in the Colombian (60%).
After that experience, he served as General Manager and co-founder of AirLogistix, leading important airport logistics infrastructure projects, such as the new cargo terminal at El Dorado airport, in Bogotá, the cargo terminal at José María Córdova airport, in Rionegro , and also led the development of the LimaHUB, at the Jorge Chávez airport, in Lima Perú.
In the commercial area, the incorporation of Lilia Constanza Ramírez as Commercial Manager will give the airline great dynamism and penetration in current and future markets. With an academic background in the areas of finance and foreign trade, Lilia Constanza has a history of 18 years in the aviation and cargo industry. In 1998 he joined DHL Express, becoming a member airline of the DHL Group (DHL Aviation) in 2000 as Manager of the Bogotá station. Thanks to her outstanding management, she was later promoted as Station Manager in San José, Costa Rica. But his path did not stop there. Due to her great leadership skills, commercial techniques and management style, she was selected to occupy the General Management for DHL Aviation in Guatemala, a position in which she generated great commercial growth, profitability and route expansion.
Last but not least, we highlight the incorporation of Lisbeth García Hansen as of August 20, who occupies the position left vacant by Maurice Thorín as Manager of Land Operations. Lisbeth is a professional trained in the areas of Law and Political Science, specialized in Customs Law and with a Master’s degree in Logistics Management. The trajectory in the airline industry of this outstanding professional began 25 years ago, having worked at DIAN as a professional in the area of Public Revenue. He then worked at DHL Express as Airport Operations Manager, going through UPS and then at DHL Aviation as Operations Manager. In the last two years she worked as a Consultant in Foreign Trade and International Logistics for the consultancy Sccala Supply Chain Consulting & Logistics Administrator.
. Lisbeth is also a postgraduate university professor at different national and international universities. He has also had an active role in the airlines in which he worked, in the aviation security committees, customs, airport infrastructure and operations of the Association of International Cargo Airlines (ALAICO).
We do not doubt that this new and professional leadership team will take South American Airlines to the next level in the air cargo industry in our region.
